Tatts Monday Lotto – Odds now 5 times WORSE than published

April 10, 2012 Leave a comment

Apologies for the hiatus in publishing this blog. My internet got suspended and my car broke down, causing significant financial stress. Here’s the latest odds update following Monday night’s lotto draw – as you can see, the odds I’ve experienced playing Monday Lotto every night in 2012 have proven extremely poor and nothing like what is published by Tattersalls.

These odds are taken over 2,200 games played in 14 draws, and show just how poor the odds are proving, despite Tatts claims that the new Division 6 means “more winners”. I’m not sure how that can be, given the odds are only 19% of what they’re publishing and the ‘winnings’ returned are less than 17%.

Monday Lotto 2/4/12 – $115.25 Lost, Odds 400% Worse Than Published By Tatts

Tonight’s Monday lotto draw – spent $115.25 on tickets, being:
2 x System 8, 18 x System 7, 30 Standard Games

After draw results – won absolutely nothing. Yet again. This brings my actual odds of playing Monday Lotto to only 1 win in 233. This is over four times worse than the odds published by Tattersalls for this game. I’ve played every Monday Lotto since the start of 2012 to accumulate these odds – so that’s over 3 months of draws, combinations of entries, and over $880 spent on tickets.

To me, this represents a fair section of data from which to compare the odds published by Tattersalls for Monday lotto. Those odds are 1:53. That assumes the lotteries are, indeed, completely random. This means my odds have been over 400% worse than what Tatts claims. How, therefore, can it be fair and reasonable to publish and promote the lottery on this basis?

Here’s my Monday Lotto breakdown FYI:

Monday Lotto Results & Odds Update – No Wins Again – 19 Mar 2012

March 19, 2012 Leave a comment

Well, those starry ads plastered everywhere at Tatts stories proclaiming “double dividends” sure didn’t go far for this particular Tatts loser.

Yes, I got poisoned once again by advertising and false hopes. After all, through 10 Monday lotto draws in 2012 I’ve only had a return on two of their draws. So I figured, surely it’s about time I got something back. Alas it was not to be – of course it wasn’t. Even though the odds are apparently 1:53 of winning a prize.

I spent $66.45 in tonight’s draw – 2 x System 8’s, 4 x System 7’s and 38 Standard Games. Won absolutely jack squat (which is the alter-ego of the “jack pot”).

Here’s my Monday lotto results for 2012 so far – as you can see, the actual odds I’ve experienced playing Monday lotto and the returns have been absolutely pathetic. Only 24% of money spent returned in winnings, and only 1 in 204 games actually winning, despite the apparent “1 in 53” odds. Make your own mind up. Yes, this now brings my Tatts losses to over $4,600 in 2012.

Tatts: Poor Odds Continue With $71 Monday Lotto Loss

March 12, 2012 Leave a comment

Well, despite all the wonderful fanfare proclaimed by Tatts for their “exciting changes” in Monday and Wednesday lotto promising to make ‘more winners’, this TattsLoser (amongst many hundreds of thousands of others, I’m sure) seems to have missed out. In fact, the odds haven’t shifted in the slightest according to my current rate of games played & games lost versus won.

Tonight’s Monday Lotto 12th March 2012, here’s my results:

1 x System 8
8 x System 7
47 x Standard Games
Total Spend: $71.30
Winnings: ZERO

And that’s what you get for going out of your way on Labor Day to put on your regular lottery numbers. Majorly sucked in. This brings my total Monday Lotto losses for 2012 to $499.35 and my overall losses in 2012 playing Tatts lotteries to $4,357.84.

Out of interest, you may have noticed the ‘exciting game changes’ for Monday & Wednesday lotto essentially have meant a price increase, whilst promising “two division one winners”. What you probably haven’t noticed is Monday & Wednesday lotto is no longer subject to a jackpot if nobody wins. Essentially, Tatts pocket the money when nobody wins rather than putting it into a jackpot. Nice of them, huh?

Tattersalls lotteries are, draw by draw, destroying me. And this blog is my draw by draw testament to warn anyone else out there who’s tempted by the glitzy advertising to waste their own time & money playing their lotteries.

Monday Lotto – 13th Feb 2012

I never learn, do I?

Being just after the super draw (which sucked over $220 out of me in losses), I went ahead and played Lotto again today.

4 x System 7s, 30 Standard Games
Spent $25.25 … and of course, didn’t win a thing.

I’ve pre-purchased for Super 7’s $15m draw tomorrow night:

1 x System 9
2 x System 8
12 Standard Games

… so far…

My net total losses playing Tattersalls lotteries for 2012 now equals: $3,119.73

Totally depressing to think about how much I’ve lost chasing these Tattersalls ‘dreams’, and how much better off I’d be if I never played their damn games.

Well, Monday Lotto turned out to be a total waste of money.

Here’s the breakdown:

3 x System 8
16 x System 7
41 x Standard Games

Total Cost: $105.90

Winnings: Zilch.

Taking me another $105.90 down in my running tally with Tattersalls. Thanks George.

Powerball $30m Mega Draw

January 31, 2012 Leave a comment

A little while since my last post, apologies. You’d be forgiven for thinking that I might have had some great windfall. Actually, you wouldn’t be forgiven – of course that’s not the case. Statistically, Tattersalls odds might suggest you have a chance, but in reality it.. well, sucks.

Reviewing my lotto play results for January – overall I’ve lost a total of $1,174.25. I did have a bit of a win on Super 7’s last week, which I recycled into the promise of the $25m Powerball last Thursday. That was a total disaster:
Powerball 26/1/12
1 System 8, 2 System 7’s and a whopping 456 standard games. Total cost: $452.90.

And I won a single Division 5 – a massive $25.90. So I lost $427. Pretty miserable.

Speaking of misery – because of that, and playing on Monday ($56.20 – won nothing) I ended up in a pretty awful situation today. I couldn’t afford lunch – I could barely afford to even drive into work and pay the parking.

So I worked all day today, last day on January, on a single cup of coffee. It’s all I could afford. All because I was stupid enough to keep thinking that Tattersalls odds are fair, and that I have a decent chance of winning.

It meant I couldn’t play Oz Lotto tonight. Oh well. I’m guessing I at least saved some money (that I didn’t have).

There’s a $30m Powerball jackpot this week. It’s also my pay week. So I guess I’ll be pouring a chunk of change down that drain. Pretty stupid, really, as it’ll mean I’ll be scratching for pennies the following week.

But look on the bright side – visit the Tattersalls website and you’ll hear of all the fantastic winners stories, and those awesome Flash ad graphics showing beaches and amazing sums of money. Makes you salivate, huh? Keep dreaming. Tatts gives you the chance to make dreams come true – all I was dreaming of today is I sure wish I could afford something to eat.

Thanks Tatts – you’ve bled over a grand from me over January. What I’ve won is so much less than what your published odds might indicate. Does this mean I’m in line for a big winner? Or am I destined to spend next week watching people eat and kick myself over how stupid I am to keep being conned by your lotteries?

Over and out folks. Hope somebody out there is having more luck than me.
